Chinese characters for "Nishikigoi (Koi)" displayed in a curved glass frame, with optional acrylic stand included. Glass frame size: 6" x 7.25" with 4"x 6" character insert.

Nishikigoi in Japanese translates to "Brocaded Carp" and is used to describe the colorful carp commonly called koi. In Chinese (pinyin: "Jin Li"), the characters translate the same and they are an auspicious symbol that relates to having abundance. A legend states that a carp can become a dragon by navigating through the "Dragon Gate", a large waterfall in the Yellow River near Henan. It symbolizes that a common person can become great by his extraordinary accomplishments.

The character is painted in running script style, then printed on acid-free 100% cotton archival paper. A unique curved glass frame focuses attention on the character and makes a simple, yet beautiful way of displaying the character on a desk, shelf, or table.
